I have had my normal parish liason meeting with the power station and there was quite a lot to discuss:
- They are replacing heavy oils for start up from cold, possibly with rapeseed oil
- It looks like the pulverised fuel ash will go to be used in cement products cutting down the amount of cement actually required
- They had challenges with dust earlier in the year but didn’t exceed limits
- 44 engagements with schools in a 10 mile radius
- £2.5m spent on elecrtical equipment supplied to schools (LED lights etc) in the UK
- Their furnace bottom ash is going into compost.
- They are massively over subscribed for grants. People should focus on STEM education, fuel poverty and energy effeciency projects
