MK1 Cortina Owners Club
The MK1 Cortina Club was formed in May 1982 by Mike Jordan (Ne. Mike Pratt) and Roger Raisey.
Mike sent a letter to Practical Classics enquiring if any person was interested in forming a club for the MK1Cortina.
Roger contacted Mike and they arranged to meet up, it was decided that if enough interest could be found they would form a club with the aim of keeping the MK1 Cortina on the road.
An advert was put in Practical Classics Car Magazine that Mike and Roger wanted to form a club for the MK1Cortina, such was the interest that by June the club was formed with 25 members and in July it was inaugurated.
In 1983 it was decided that a bi-monthly newsletter be produced. That is now a full bi-monthly magazine distributed worldwide to around 900 members.
The newly formed club decided that they would meet up once a year at a suitable venue in the midland`s so the National Show was formed meeting initially at Hagley Hall in the midlands.
In 1984 it was agreed that a spares fund be set up. This was well supported and enabled the club to purchase spares in job lots, but also to look at getting parts remanufactured.
Currently we meet at Stratford upon Avon Racecourse in August and combine our event with the Mk2 Cortina Owners Club and the Ford Anglia 105E Owners Club.
The club now has members all over the world and anyone can join, purchase spares and regalia all on line.
Got an interest in or own a Mk1 Cortina? Then there is only 1 club for you!!
