You may be aware of outline plans by the government to cancel some of the local elections next year. This will be for those areas were there is a 2 teir system of District and County. The plan would appear to be to make all or most change to Unitary as we have in North Yorkhire. In order to do that the local elections would be postponed for a year in order for all those areas to devise a plan to do that.
The cycnic in me thinks that would be useful to the Labour Party as, due to their extreme ‘popularity’, they might wish to prevent any losses at these local elections and give themselves time to turn around their abysmal ratings in the polls (bit of wishful thinking!!)
It also gives them time to rethink their attacks on pensioners, business, farmers, students, so they can find others to target (I just didn’t realise they were there to serve them not us).
