Reform UK have now taken control of a significant number of councils throughout the country and have a large number of cllrs, in fact it is ‘north’ of 1400 new ones meaning the makeup of the Local Government Association (LGA) will also change. Many congratulations to them all on getting elected.
Locally or candidate for Kippax and Methley came a very close 2nd and was only about 300 behind the sitting cllr.. It is a ward on Leeds City Council with the deputy of the council standing. No one has overall control at Leeds now so some ‘deal’ will have to be done which will hopefully involve them sorting out the £2.6 Billion debt.
Next year there are further elections and this time it is the turn of the residents in North Yorkshire to cast their vote. Reform UK have already secured a number of candidates for the wards to be contested and it is an ‘all out’ election with single member wards apart from Sherburn in Elmet which will be joined with South Milford and neighbouring villages.
