Camblesforth and Carlton Ward update

It seems we are are close to turning the area into a ‘solar state’. Yet another application has been entered close to Camblesforth for a solar farm to add to the list. Companies (and probably foriegn investors) have seen the direction of travel by the new government and so will keep putting in these applications, perhaps more speculative than anything else!

I spoke to a farmer only yesterday who is puzzled as farmers can earn a lot more money from windfarms and they don’t take up anywhere near the room. A lot of the land is also good farmland so food producion will suffer even more.

I have also been in conversation with Active Travel England (ATE )are an organisation set up to look at and advise where planning or redevelopment is happening to help design areas to make it safe and easy to get around by walking or bike. The Transpennine Trail (I am vice chair) organised the meeting invite and ATE could be a useful organisation for a parish to contact if they are threatened with a large planning application.

The High School at Carlton is still looking to close but a group has been set up to try and stop that happening. They are on Facebook so please contact with your concerns.

A planning application on Mill Lane has gone to the planning inspectorate to appeal.
