Just to give folk an idea of the sorts of things I am dealing with at the moment. It never ends!!
Just thought I would update you on issues I am currently wrestling with.
Drax—all sorted. The wooden post lamp has just been replaced with a steel thing at a cost of £1,900 (Was £1200 just 3 years ago)
Camblesforth—Trees on road to Drax Power still causing grief for everyone and the parish have still not been reimbursed for the money they had to spend proving the land the trees sit on is owned by North Yorkshire—why no one wants to take ownership is beyond me. Then we have the lights still out between the roundabout and the bridge over the railway line to Carlton. Then we have this new system of reporting which means the clerk can’t actually pick a phone up and speak to a real breathing person. Then there is the fishing ponds on Camblesforth Straight. Built illegally but then given permission despite ripping down all the trees and a nearby neighbour still has nightmares. Then we had a tree down in the village. A workman in a NYC came down, drove off and reported it as fixed (the clerk checked the portal). The Parish got a guy down to actually sort it later that day.
Carlton—we have millions for Kex Gill and Harrogate convention centre and Scarborough Bay but a few grand for a replacement bus shelter by the old peoples homes is out of the question.
Newland—the new piling to keep water out is leaking like a sieve, appreciate its an EA issue but wanted to make you aware and if it fails you will be busy
Hensall—on going issue with sewage every time we have a decent amount of rain near the cottages—Yorkshire Water say they are going to do it but no idea when—suspect a different tale if an YW employee or NY employee lived there and had to put up with raw sewage in their back garden every winter. Then we have the potential for a Farm Shop on the outskirts of the village which local residents want to save them driving to Knottingley all the time for fresh veg etc, however officers are not minded to approve despite the help it will provide for parking at the primary school right at a set of traffic lights!!
Then we have the flooding on Wand Lane making it impossible to drive along if we get heavy rain—well known issue still not fully sorted
Long Drax—issue with the river bank which is an EA one but wanted to ensure you are aware. They say that they will be starting in March—I am not holding my breath but Drax Power Station are.
Temple Hirst—flooding by the Care Home—every winter—to get to Selby etc they have to go east to Carlton then up Camblesforth Straight. I appreciate work is to be done but w
